Project: Statistical Consumption
907 is a low estimate of the number of animals 1 human being will consume in their lifetime. I wanted to understand what that meant in a visual form- what it would feel like to walk amongst 907 animals- to understand the magnitude of it.
Feelings of empathy is what ties all the works together in this series. Commodification of lives, mechanical treatment of animals and limited access to family. Every moment of their lives are controlled by human beings, unable to even nurture their own children.
These pieces are not about vegan activism, but rather about empathy and humanity. If I brought these concerns to light beyond the opaque walls of factory farms, people will have to come to terms of what it takes to fulfill their needs and perhaps be more thoughtful about sourcing their food more responsibly.
